Gainesville High School History :

Gainesville High School was founded in 1900 and originally included grades one through twelve. At that time the school was located in what is now Kirby-Smith Elementary School. The site was moved in 1922 to what is currently the West Campus of Santa Fe Junior College and included grades seven through twelve. The present site became operational in 1955 and included grades nine through twelve until Howard Bishop and Westwood Junior High Schools began housing the ninth grades. The school at that time became a senior high school. Gainesville High School first became accredited by the Southern Association in 1916 and has maintained its accreditation until the present day.
